Abstract
Arterial hypertension (HTA) is a relevant public health problem whose control is influenced by psychoemotional and behavioral factors. The objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of anxiety, depression, and stress on therapeutic adherence and blood pressure control in hypertensive patients from the Jicarito Health Network in Honduras. A quantitative, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted with 68 adult patients recently diagnosed with hypertension, using the DASS-21 scale and the Therapeutic Behavior: Illness or Injury questionnaire. The analysis included descriptive statistics and bivariate tests. The results showed that 48.5% presented anxiety, 38.2% depression, and 20.6% stress, with higher levels of adherence and blood pressure control observed in patients without psychoemotional disturbances, while moderate and severe levels were significantly associated with low adherence and d. It is concluded that anxiety, depression, and stress constitute important determinants of hypertensive control, highlighting the need to integrate mental health assessment and care at the primary care level.
